FSC China’s Calibration Meeting on its Upcoming National Forest Stewardship Standards (NFSS) Successfully Held in Fujian
Hosted in Shunchang, Nanping in Fujian, the purpose of the calibration meeting held on 11-14 June is to let auditors of Chinese certificate bodies familiarise and have a better understanding with the new Chinese National Forest Stewardship Standards (NFSS), which is conditionally approved in 2016 and will be implemented in due course.
Participants included auditors from certification bodies (CBs) including Bureau Veritas (BV), SGS, SCS Global Services and Rainforest Alliance (RA), and also representatives from WWF China, IKEA, the Chinese Academy of Forestry and the Fujian University of Agroforestry.
A field testing also took place in the Shunchang State-owned Forest Farm run by the Shunchang Agroforestry Department, which also provided the meeting venue. The participants were split into four audit groups and ran a trial audit. Through the auditing process and group discussions, the participants exchanged valuable feedback with each other and to FSC-China, ensuring a smooth transition to the new standards.
